National TV show "BBQ PITMASTERS" coming to Dothan to film

News from Dothan Alabama!

DOTHAN, AL- The most popular show to ever portray the world of competition barbecue, BBQ Pitmasters, is coming to the 7th annual Tri-State BBQ Festival to film an upcoming episode. Season three of BBQ Pitmasters is scheduled to begin airing Memorial Day weekend, so filming during the April 13-14 event in Dothan was perfect timing.

The Tri-State BBQ Festival is held at the Houston County Farm Center, and features some of the biggest names in professional competition barbecue, vying for over $10,000 in prize money. The event is sanctioned by the Florida Bar-B-Que Association, which uses a double blind judging method and trained, certified judges.

Event Coordinator Kerry Farrell, owner of The Main Event, couldn't be happier with the news. "I've been a big fan of the show BBQ Pitmasters since the first season. The show really portrayed what professional barbecue was all about, and it's helped legitimize the sport of competition barbecue."

Filming for the show will take place all weekend on an open set at the Farm Center. This means the public is able to come out and watch the filming of the show, as well as enjoy the other sights, sounds and smells of the Tri-State BBQ Festival. There is entertainment both days, with a concert Friday night by local legends, the BopCats, and Saturday night will be the KJams in Concert at 7:00 pm.

Tickets for the event are just $5 per day for adults until March 31, 2012. Then the ticket price increases to $10 for adults and $5 for students. Children 6 and under are free. Tickets may be purchased online at www.TriStateBBQ.com or locally at the Convention and Visitors Bureau, 3311 Ross Clark Circle, or at Candy Bouquet of Dothan, 2620 Montgomery Highway #3 and also at Loftins Party and Wedding Center 1419 Montgomery Highway.

As of press time, a few spaces remained for professional teams interested in the competition. Additional information is available online at TriStateBBQ.com or by calling (334) 699-1475.

Although we know some details, we are obligated to the network to not reveal anything more at this time. However, we received information from Myron Mixon himself that he will be in attendance at the Tri-State BBQ Festival this year. So fans of the show can come by, watch the filming (and possibly be on TV in the crowd shots) and meet Myron and enjoy Hollywood in Dothan.
